Steven A. Kotchek, EsqAfter earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from City University of New York Queens College, Steven went onto Touro Law School where he earned his Juris Doctor. While at Touro, he participated in the Civil Rights Litigation Clinic where he assisted in representing clients with disabilities in complex discrimination cases in State and Federal Court against the City and State of New York, municipalities, public agencies, schools and hospitals. He was recognized for his outstanding work and earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award (presented to the student with the highest grade in a course). Steven then moved onto the Long Island Advocacy Center, a not for profit organization representing the educational rights of children with disabilities, where he fought against the unfair practices of school districts in denying children with disabilities a free appropriate public education. His work at LIAC resulted in children with disabilities being provided more services through IEP modification, the classification of children after years of neglect from school districts, and unfair suspensions and penalties being significantly reduced or dismissed. Steven was awarded his second CALI Award for his work in the course Education Law.
